Interesting post. "Inside Out" definitely has a melancholy, depressing and obsessive vibe. It is also incredibly smooth and delicious. One of my favorite songs ever. I will have to check out Mulholland's book.

I recently got Odyssey's "Happy Together" LP with this track and to be honest, I never really gave the lyrics much thought until now. Although this has become a favourite of mine, when I first heard it, I remember thinking how strange the vocal was. That contrast between the languid, melancholy delivery and the infectious groove behind it. Anyway, great selection!
